MIami USA 2019
I am a member the MCS BMW Club in Berlin. Around July last year the two road captains decided to Organise a trip to Miami. This was to take place in Jan 2019 as the Early Saison start
2019.Ithoughtabout it for a few days and decided to travel wit a group from the club to the states.
The preparation is now finished, we have, bikes, hotels, flights, a Visum, an international drivers license, and a few dollars in the pocket.
We start in Berlin early in the morning of the 18.01.2019 and will return on the 26.01.2019.
I will be trying to write this blog every day, so watch this space
Day 1
Friday 18.01.2019
It is an early morning and the taxi came at 03:30. All readyto go and met up with rest at Tegel Airport
The flight stared a bit late due to the snow and ice in Berlin but we reached our flight to Miami on time and were in Miami at 15:00 hrs local time, a bit sleepy but apart from that it was a good
flight.
After arriving at the airport we took a bus to the Hotel where we had some time to look around.
Day 2
Saturday 19.01.2019 Key West
After a great sun rise and a good breakfast we were picked and brought to Eagle Riders bike rentals
After information about the bikes and a test drive we stared the tour towards Key West
The journey took longer than we planned due to an accident on the road a few km in front of us on the way to Key West. Due to this we lost nearly two hrs and had a fast turn around for dinner in the
Hard Rock Cafe in KeyWest.
We unloaded the bikes had a quick shower and then into the Taxi and off to the duval street in Key West where we had a good meal in the Hard Rock Cafe.
Day 3
Sunday 20.01.209 Naples
Unfortunately the weather has taken a turn for the worst and we have a proper storm with high winds and torrential rain. This means changes in our Programm and we will have to wait until the
storm passes.
Some off the group took a Taxi and visited the house from Hemingway and the most southern point from the USA. The rest stayed at the hotel and waited until the storm passed.
Now we are on the way to Naples, it is about time as it is 13:00 hrs and we have 400 km before we reach our Hotel, it will be dark before we get there.
Although it was a long ride we took time for one or two stops. The one stop was the smallest post office in the USA and the other was an alligator farm. Unfortunately they were both closed and we had
to travel through the glades in the dark. It was a shame. After arriving in Naples we had a bite to eat and dropped into our beds like sack of potatoes, the jet leg was starting to take its toll
Day 4
Monday 21.09.2019 Cleerwater
After a very good nights sleep and a breakfast we started on a cold but sunny morning towards Cleerwater.our first stop was Sanibel Island.
And then Captiva Island
We arrived in Cleerwater like the day before in the dark and a bit tired. We had a meal in the hotel, a drink at the bar and then off to bed in our wonderful rooms or in my case apartments
Day 5
Tuesday 22.01.2019 Daytona Beach
After Breakfast we stared heading north towards Ocala and turned east leaving the Gulf of Mexico behind us.
Heading towards the Ocala National forest we made a small stop
The first stop was very interesting as we had on the right a Mac Donald’s , on the left a fresh fruit shop and in the middle you could buy a hand made Hot Dog
After the stop we drove through the Forest towards Daytona Beach. After a shave and a shower we went for a meal in a Mexican Restaurant.
Day 6
Wednesday 23.01.2019 Daytona Beach
Today is more or less a free day but I have decided to travel with the group to the BMW shop in Daytona and then to the Harley shop a few miles out before returning to the Hotel to put my feet
up
The rest of the group did a small tour to St Augustine and where back in the Hotel in time for the evening meal
After the meal we went to. Bikers evening in an old garage on the Main Street in Daytona
After soaking up the atmosphere we drove home and had a good nights sleep
Day 7
Thursday 24.01.2019 Cocoa Beach
On the way to Cocoa Beach we made a stop at the space Centre.
After having a look at the space age we travelled to Cocoa Beach
After a quiet afternoon on the beach we had a very nice evening and a good meal in the pier restaurant.
Day 8
Friday 25.01.2019 Miami Beach
After a good nights sleep and a good breakfast we started the tour back to Miami
Well that was the last tour day and tomorrow we have to return the bikes to Eagle rider. After a good meal and a few farewell drinks it was off to bed.
Day 9
Saturday 26.01.2019. Berlin
After a good breakfast we met in th Hotel hall for the last pictures and keep looking at the clody sky as it was raining cats and dogs and we have to ride to eagle Riders to return the Bikes
After a very wet ride to the Rental station we returned our bike and then started to get changed and re pack our cases.
Well that was the 8 days in Miami. we had a lot of fun, had good weather apart from the last day we covered nearly 34000 km for all bikes which is an average from 2002 km. in the mean time we have landed safely in Berlin after a very tiring flight. Looking forward to the next tour.
